President Notable Software's Board of Directors
Rebecca Mercuri is the founder of Notable Software and Knowledge Concepts. Her management skills have been applied to day-to-day operations as well as product development. As a computer scientist, she has been employed by and consulted for many Fortune 100 firms, including AT&T Bell Labs, Intel, Merck, and RCA. Her specialties are interactive systems (multimedia, digital audio, computer graphics), microprocessor applications (real-time and distributed systems), computer security and forensics. An avid educator, Rebecca has taught in various capacities at colleges and universities in PA, NJ and NY, and she has written and presented training courses for industry and government agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration, the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, and SRI's Sarnoff Center. She publishes extensively, and is interviewed and quoted frequently by the media (including the Associated Press, National Public Radio, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, U.S. News & World Report, The Economist). Dr. Mercuri holds Ph.D. and M.S.Eng. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania as well as a M.Sci. from Drexel University.
Vice President
Mike Keith received his M.S.E.E. from Stanford University in 1978. He worked at the David Sarnoff Research Center from 1980 until 1990 on various projects related to personal computing, culminating with work on Digital Video Interactive, a technology subsequently acquired by Intel Corporation. Mike worked from 1990 to 1998 at Intel, primarily in the areas of digital video and audio compression and software optimization. He left Intel in 1998 to devote more time to consulting, writing, and music projects. Mike is the author of over 50 papers, three books, and one music CD, and holds 74 U.S. patents. Awards include the 1999 Cabell prize from Virginia Commonwealth University (for his CD of music related to James Branch Cabell) and Anagrammist of the Year for 1999 (as voted by the denizens of the alt.anagrams newsgroup).
Secretary/Treasurer
Ranjit Bhatnagar received a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley in 1987, and a M.S.Eng. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. His work focuses primarily on interactive multimedia, and he is currently the Director of Research and Development for gameLab. His collaborative creations include Pixeltime (online drawing software and art gallery), Sissyfight (an innovative multiplayer Web game), and Loop (a fantasy puzzle). Prior to joining gameLab, Ranjit was a member of the original team that launched the website for the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper. He developed multimedia presentations for language education and film studies at the University of Pennsylvania, and authored Notable Software's BenBot (a Ben Franklin chatbot) for the Franklin Institute Science Museum. In his spare time, Ranjit creates alternative musical instruments (including fluxbox, lev, the silence organ, Misericordiam, and the MIDI ironing board), and serves on the boards of the digital arts groups SCAN and SITO.
